The Very Reverend Jeanne Finan serves as the Dean and Rector of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington, Vermont. Her work at the Cathedral has focused on increasing the digital presence of the Cathedral, working towards financial sustainability and encouraging reflection on what it means to be an urban cathedral in the 21st century.
Prior to her arrival at the Cathedral in 2014, she served at two churches in the Diocese of Western North Carolina: as Rector at St. John’s in Asheville and as Associate Rector at St. Mary of the Hills in Blowing Rock. Rev Finan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Virginia Theological Seminary. She also did postgraduate studies in Celtic Christianity at the University of Wales in Lampeter and a study residency on the Isle of Iona in Scotland. Author of the book Remember Your Baptism: Ten Meditations (Cowley Publications), she is also an experienced retreat leader and a lover of words.
Jeanne is married to her college sweetheart Tom Eshelman who served as the Executive Director of the Valle Crucis Conference Center for 18 years prior to his recent retirement. They are the parents of “two brilliant children and five even more brilliant grandchildren”.
